The necessity for change at a school may be driven from the results of an education audit or may come from the desire of the trustees to move the institution into a new direction. In either case, the Hearth reviews and studies the school and prepares recommendations (including a detailed action plan) for further development of the school.
The School Improvement Plan addresses the following questions:
- Where is the school now?
- Do changes need to be made and what are these?
- What will be the process for management and funding of these changes?
- What will be the evidence of impact of these changes on the school?
The School Improvement Plan is closely and clearly linked to governance at the school and to a well-thought through financial plan. A key feature of successful development planning is to evaluate the impact of the previous plan on the school, particularly regarding standards, before starting the next year’s development plan.
